The designer studio Koolasuchus has created a concept house to achieve the timelessness of design.

From the designer "Koolasuchus is inspired and directed by object design: a specific piece of furniture, lighting, sculpture or artwork can be the ‘lightbulb moment’ that initiates our work. We recognise that our interiors are often conceptualised as the art gallery housing these pieces. Composition of objects is integral to the photographic nature of architectural visualisation, and thus it follows that it is often the objects within our interiors that determine the project. An exemplar of this approach being our latest project, Aurora. We started with the Achilles Chair by Pool Studio, and from there continued to build in elements that we felt were in harmony with each other. This was underpinned by the client brief for a space that embodies a calm and understated luxury.

For Koolasuchus, luxury is found in space, in timelessness, and in an individual beauty of every piece in the space; this links back to the idea of our interior being a gallery for these pieces. To this point, Aurora used the idea of each element being a statement piece, which was separated from the next element by space; the ‘statement’ quality was then subdued by a minimalist tonal palette for a more relaxed atmosphere. The architecture is a relaxation of a formal architectural style; think Rococo Architecture with all mouldings, detailing and painting removed.  The tonal palette is carried throughout, with varying material textures taking the place of feature colours."
