Shagwong is a family residence located in East Hampton, New York and designed by Adam Jordan Architecture. Priority of the family at the beginning was having a weekend home to escape from the city when in need and Adam Jordan Architecture didn’t only make that wish come true but also went beyond themselves. One of the other priorities which is also the starting point of the material and color preferences was blending the home within the landscape. Mostly dark and grey color have been preferred but how the rest of the design was made prevent an overwhelming atmosphere despite to dark tones. Each room takes natural light in way to create a spacious atmosphere and maximize the water view. The social and private spaces have being organized under a single cover with a courtyard in the middle. Courtyard is one of the remarkable details of the design especially with its minimalistic design that also allows natural light to house as well as with its function to be used to divide social and private areas. Dark wooden ceiling that encompassing whole house provides a great integrity to design.
