Villa Amsterdam was designed by Marmol Radziner for a young family. The villa is located outside of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. It’s quite impossible not to be charmed by the amazing view of the residence that sees the natural surroundings through a done up brown landscape but it’s not even too much when looking at the whole design.
First thing that draws attention is the completeness of the indoor-outdoor living but that completeness is what Marmol Radziner does best in each of his designs, so it’s not a surprise to see such a great integrity. The connection of both sides is created by large glazed windows with sliding glass doors and floor-to-ceiling windows bring the landscape to the inside of the residence in such chic way. While the front side is wide open, part of the house that sees the street provides a privacy and brings a contrast to the front. Wood veneers, natural tones and metallic structure appeals directly to the contemporary approach of Marmol Radziner.
Each area of the residence comes with visual integrity. Social areas are placed on the ground floor. Each detail of the spaces bring a unique aesthetic to the whole design. While large glazed windows extend the house to the garden, open floor plan provides a spaciousness as well. In the dining room, metal and solid oak dining table by Herenhuis, chairs by Niels Moller and Antipode pendant light by Lambert&Fils on the upper are in harmony with the modern characteristic of the residence. In the living room, sofa by Neovall and area rug by Intrigue Collection bring a coziness to space. Furnishing of the residence was realized in a collaboration with Floris Koch from Enter The Loft and their collaboration created nothing but a great harmony between objects and spaces.
