The LO House is a private residence located in Lake Oswego, Oregon. It was designed by the Portland-based design company Kaemingk Design, which is specialized in creating elegant and cozy spaces.  Chelsea and Brandt Kaemingk, who are the founders of the company, started their journey by following their passion for design and they keep evolving their highly aesthetic style but they don’t limit their beautiful designs with the limits of time and classic trends. Their designs are timeless and they give a fresh breath with their warm and cozy atmospheres.

The LO House is the Kaemingk’s latest design and it is a proof that their style has been evolving to become better with each new design they create. This design is an elegant and unique result of their approach. Their goal for the project was giving a modern identity with a soul. The residence’s design is simple, far away from complicated and peaceful. Natural materials, luxury furnishings and interesting art works have been used as details that matter and create the soul of the residence.

Neutral color pallet was preferred for the whole design and it is the key feature of creating that calm and silent atmosphere. Similar materials or matching details that have been used in different parts of the house provide a great coherency to the whole concept. In the living room, more furnishing has been used compared to the other parts of the house but that coherency between the materials that’s been provided with small details appeals to the eye. A show-through curtain keeps the atmosphere fresh and makes the space breath as Kaemingk desired at the first place. While more objects have been used in the living room, other parts of the house like the kitchen or bathroom are much simpler.

Those parts are more modern with the clean lines and solid colors, yet small objects provide warmness and keep the design away from the coldness of today’s modern approach. This is what gives a soul to the design as it’s seen in the kitchen; a small vase with beautiful flowers in it and beams from the natural materials change the whole atmosphere. Coziness takes over the control of the whole house but it comes with a different energy in the bedrooms and dining room. Darker color tones have been used to add depth in those areas and these color tones harmonize with the modernity of the house. Using lighter and neutral tones for the rest keeps the energy fresh. In that way, these parts seem to be much more peaceful and calm especially with the comfy furnishings.
